Much of the terrorism with which our world is faced today can be attributed to a constant mismanagement of Islam and Muslims. States, in the Muslim world and the West, have so far failed to sustain a consistent pattern of treating Muslims. This is an argument that is likely to cause a lot of discomfort especially at times when combating terrorism has to gain priority over all else. While it is of the utmost importance to remain vigilant and to do what is necessary to prevent the next attack from happening, we do need to understand the reasons that make terrorism an ongoing threat.
